New Bilingual Book Celebrates Mixed Heritage

Our newest book, The Best of All Worlds, is a richly illustrated story about a girl of mixed heritage who learns to embrace her different cultures.

The Best of All Worlds begins with Katie wondering about her culture on the eve of her school’s Multicultural Day. Her father is Vietnamese and her mother is Irish, but what is she? Follow along as she discovers that she loves making dumplings with her grandma, watching hurling with her mom, and celebrating the Fourth of July with her family.

Written by Ellen Becker and illustrated by Lingyan Gu, The Best of All Worlds celebrates multiculturalism, diversity, and family.

“The Best of All Worlds celebrates the different cultures and ethnicities within a warm and loving multigenerational family. This is a warm hug for kids from mixed-race families, as well as a shining light on diversity.” Mia Wenjen, author and Co-Founder/President of Read Your World.

The Best of All Worlds includes access to a detailed lesson plan, English and Spanish audio, and printable activities to support diversity education. It is available in English only and in the following bilingual editions: Arabic, Ukrainian, Russian, and Spanish, with many more languages coming soon.

This book is another addition to our popular Living in Harmony Series, which helps explain concepts of diversity, kindness, and friendship. Other titles in the Living in Harmony Series include Be Kind, Feathers and Friends, Leo’s Dogs, Together Is Better, We Can All Be Friends, and Who Are We? This series is available in many languages and includes teaching resources and audio.
