About

Thank you for visiting the Language Lizard Blog!

We want this blog to be a key resource for you – educators, librarians and families – who are trying to teach children about language and culture. This blog is for all of us who support children with diverse language needs.

For years Language Lizard has been helping educators who are teaching dual language learners and building multicultural classrooms. During this time, we have provided multicultural lesson plans along with information about how to support newcomers and bilingual students. We have tried to meet the needs of diverse communities and make the classroom more welcoming for families of all backgrounds.

Some of our posts on this blog will review broad topics, such as how to involve bilingual families in the classroom or a review of new research on bilingualism. Other topics will be quite specific. For example, we will post sections of lesson plans that teach about certain countries or holidays, or we will suggest materials to use when teaching a multicultural classroom about counting/numbers. Many of our posts will answer some of the frequently asked questions we have received over the years from teachers and parents.

Look through our posts to find information on…

  • Multicultural Lesson Plans
  • Bilingualism
  • Supporting Dual Language Learners (DLLs) / English Language Learners (ELLs)
  • Bilingual Book Reviews
  • Effective Uses of Dual-Language Books
  • Information on Specific Languages
  • Celebrations/ Holidays
  • and more!

We hope you will visit our blog regularly and review the new information we have available for you. If you have any comments about this blog, or suggestions as to how we can continue to support you, please visit the “Contact Us” Page at www.LanguageLizard.com to let us know what you think. 2. I found Language Lizard when looking for bilingual books for my nephew. As a language teacher and proud aunt, I wanted him to know different cultures and plant the seed to new worlds and points of view. Now I’m happy to say I’ll benefit from Language Lizard with my own first child! Thank you!

  3. I am teaching ELL at the Pre school level and am looking for some good resources. I see that you list some on your categories. Hope to see more and get to use them.

  4. Thank you for all the information in your blog. I refer to it regularly to get ideas for my classes. We have a large population of Chinese and other Asian students and I am happy to have resources to help them.

  5. Que maravilloso tener este recurso para padres y maestros. Como una persona bilingüe que trabaja con niños que se están convirtiendo en bilingües (español) siento que esto es una gran herramienta.
